S1E16: Keeping it Simple

We can simplify everything, making our entire experience more workable, by reducing unnecessary complications in our thinking. The “Simple” from 11/18/96 is our pairing for this especially important lesson.

Here are my notes from the Khenpo Karthar Rinopche teaching discussed in this episode:

“Best is to think others have good intentions.

If you can always do that, it is the best protection from giving rise to negative emotions.

If you always assume bad intentions, you are self-defeating.

Second best is to remain neutral.  All is like the wind; the play of illusion.

This is how to protect yourself.

If no negative thought arises in your mind that is how you protect yourself.

Never respond to negative comments or actions.  This adds fuel to the fire.

It is all about love and compassion.”
